What Are Spider Veins?
Similar in appearance to varicose veins, spider veins are smaller and located closer to your skin’s surface. They are generally located on your legs or face and have a web-like appearance. Spider veins develop for a variety of reasons: too much sun, injury, obesity, pregnancy, inactivity, hormonal changes, or changes in your circulatory system. Rosacea or exposure to radiation can also cause spider veins.
How Are Spider Veins Treated?
Superficial spider veins are treated with relatively painless injections of a substance that causes the vein to collapse and allow the body to reabsorb it naturally. If your spider veins appear deeper or more extensive, you may be sent for an ultrasound prior to injections.
Are There Any Side Effects?
You should be able to resume normal activities following treatment for spider veins.
